Del Mismo Racimo presents their most recent project, “A Cuerdas”, a session performed with a String Quintet and Vocals. The session is divided into 3 chapters, each representing 3 points in the group’s trajectory. The first chapter, “Enjambre”, is a song that was released in the group’s first EP “Siervos del Oleaje” and it’s one of their first compositions. The second chapter, “Grietas de Oro”, is the title track to the group’s first full length album, and the third chapter, “Lo Divino”, is their latest release in collaboration with the group Shula.
The inspiration behind “A Cuerdas” stems from the musical foundation of band members, Gustavo and Victor, in classical music as well as modern inspirations like “Los Episodios Sinfónicos” from Argentinian artist, Gustavo Cerati. This with the continuous search for new sounds and different ways to interpret songs gave the birth to this idea. The 3 songs where rearranged by Javier Martínez, ex-violist of the Puerto Rican Symphonic Orquestra and relative of the members of the group.
This session was recorded in the Chapel of the Old Arsenal of the Spanish Marina, place that also served as setting for the visuals. The intension of the group was to preserve the authenticity of the songs by recording them live in this historical place. Additional to the session that was transmitted live, the songs were distributed as an EP in all digital streaming platforms.
“A Cuerdas” was possible thanks to the support of El Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña and Micheo Music.
