On set of TAZAS for Del Mismo Racimo

Photographer & Filmmaker from Cidra, Puerto Rico

Ever since I was child I was inspired by all the movies I went to see with my father after school and because of that at a young age I knew I wanted to make films. As I grew up my grandfather was also a huge presence and inspiration in my life and through him I ended up finding and falling in love with film photography.

My goal through my work will always be to showcase the human experience. In many ways we are all connected and I wish to highlight the things, big and small, that connect us. Im always searching for my work to convey that slice of life feeling that I love to see. I know that a project about my people in Puerto Rico has the weight to resonate with people on the other side of the world.

Photography

Photography has become a huge part of my life in recent years. Especially film photography. Theres a lot to be said about how great the process is, from loading your film, to shooting, then developing and scanning/printing. I love feeling involved throughout the entire process of everything I do, wether it’s making movies or taking pictures, and analog photography just provides that perfectly for me.

Filmmaking

Photography in many ways is a very lonely art form, but filmmaking is structured around cooperation and participation between many individuals. To me this presents a contradiction as I mostly prefer to do things myself. But through my various collaborations I have also discovered the joys of working with other people wether its bringing my own ideas to life or helping others to achieve theirs.

Filmmaking is a medium that tends to bring people together and every great project creates its own small family of individuals who came together to create something. In film it’s not all riding on one individual, but a collective giving it their all to elevate the work beyond just one person.
